A Content Delivery Network is a collection of thousands of servers that are spread throughout the world at key geographic locations and are used to serve media-rich files such as pictures and movies to visitors from around the globe. Your website's load times improve dramatically because your visitors are no longer accessing your server directly, but instead, pulling the heaviest content from the closest geographic location in the CDN.

How It Works

Files are pulled automatically from your server and cached on the CDN network. This is accomplished by pointing all of your picture and movie files to cdn.your-domain.com. The CDN will then reverse proxy that content from your server and spread it throughout all of its thousands of servers worldwide. Because we offer CDN service in a pay per GB model this also means that you only pay for what you use.

Faster Load Times
Media files such as pictures and movies are significantly larger than HTML, as a result the majority of your load time is determined by how quickly your media loads. By off loading this work to the CDN you will be moving the most demanding and time consuming portion of your site to servers that are geographically closest to your visitors, providing them with the absolute fastest download speeds possible. As an added benefit you will be able to free up resources from your web servers as they wont need to process media requests, instead allowing them to utilize their resources to process your application.
