Included with our Server Cluster Platform, Load Balancing is used to share the load of running your site across multiple servers. Additionally in case a server goes down Load Balancers will automatically redirect traffic to the remaining servers. These load balancers monitor your servers overall health by determining how quickly they are able to open new connections and then they redistribute traffic from overworked servers to ones with available resources. Ensuring that your visitors are always getting your website, not an error message.

There is no configuration changes necessary to take advantage of our Load Balancing, everything is taken care of for you by our technical support staff. We setup your website on a new virtual IP which resides on the load balancer. Your inbound traffic hits the load balancer and is then redistributed to your servers based on availability and performance metrics that the load balancers are collecting. All traffic is then passed relayed between your servers and the end user.
Distribute Traffic
When servers are handling hundreds or thousands of requests a single server can become overloaded, resulting in slowing of your site and possibly outages. Load Balancing continuously collects performance metrics on each of your servers and redistributes traffic to the servers that have the most amount of free resources. Ensuring your website's availability, and speed through even the highest traffic spikes.
Increased Security
Load balancing provides you with with a layer of protection before traffic reaches your servers. Load balancers act as a first line of defense against DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) and other malicious attacks common on the internet. The load balancer has a virtual IP that all traffic destined for your servers must pass through first, if this is an attack or malicious traffic the load balancer discards the information, ensuring that your servers are not affected.
Scalable Growth
Once your website has grown to the point that a single server is no longer able to accommodate it load balancing is the perfect add-on to your multi-server cluster as it provides efficient distribution of traffic and redundancy. By adding your servers into the load balancer configuration it also allows for future rapid deployment as new servers can be launched rapidly, especially when clustered environments are setup with our Managed Storage to share data across all of your servers.
Highly Available
The load balancers monitor your servers overall health and performance and redistribute traffic accordingly. If one of the web servers should suffer any sort of failure its traffic is automatically redirected to the remaining healthy servers. This ensures that your website is able to sustain the loss of an entire server without affecting your end user's experience. Giving our technical support staff ample time to investigate the cause of the failure and correct it.
