How It Works

We start by first migrating off your MySQL or PostgreSQL database services to a separate dedicated server. Then we add managed storage and migrate your content, this allows us to setup multiple web servers that share the same data. Next we add highly available load balancing to distribute your traffic evenly between your multiple web servers. Lastly, we optimize the servers for the specific tasks they perform. The entire transition is seamless because our technical support department updates your configurations and ensures that all technologies integrate with your application.

Dedicated Server Roles

When your website is on a single server, that server has to perform many functions, such as database, web, and application processing. As a result the server can't be optimized since what's best for a database server, isn't great for a web server. By separating your services onto dedicated servers we're able to optimize each of the servers for a particular task. Our technical support staff ensures that this migration process is handled with minimal, if any intervention, from you.

Managed Storage

Managed Storage allows all of your web servers to mount the same centralized storage volume. Allowing them to share the same files between all servers simultaneously. This technology is the key to setting up multiple web servers to handle your increased traffic. As your content grows the storage volume can be expanded on the fly, allowing you to grow and scale your capacity without needing to reconfigure your applications.

Load Balancing

Load Balancing allows for traffic to be evenly distributed across your web servers. This allows your website to handle more concurrent requests and when combined with our managed storage allows additional servers to be added when more capacity is needed transparently and without editing configurations or applications.

Content Delivery Network (CDN)

An optional feature of the Server Cluster platform is our Content Delivery Network. Our CDN pulls files from your website and caches them across a global network for ultra-fast retrieval. This minimizes page load times for your visitors, across the globe, because the largest files such as images and videos are pulled from servers that are geographically closest to the visitor. An additional benefit is that your dedicated web servers are freed up to process other requests more efficiently.
